Now freelance photographers have a place to call their own with the official launch of EOS Buddy Club by Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, on 14 May at the inaugural Digital Camera, Imaging and Media Show (DCIM) 2010 at MidValley Exhibition Centre. The event was launched by Simon Wong, Assistant Director, Image Communications Product Division (ICP) and Chong Lip Wei, Marketing Manager, ICP Division.

The EOS Buddy Club was initiated for two reasons; that a great number of amateurs are taking on the challenge of using DSLR (Digital single-lens reflex) cameras, and many of them are freelancers. Canon – a global leader in photographic and digital imaging solutions – wanted to develop this further and reach out to the growing crowd through the EOS Buddy Club which will basically function as a platform to develop the talent and skills as well as create this exclusive online community for freelance photographers who use Canon DSLRs.

More than just a meeting ground for freelance photographers, the EOS Buddy Club, with members accredited by Canon Marketing Malaysia, will list details of freelance photographers and give special privileges like training, rental of peripherals and business marketing opportunities for freelancers. The Club also functions as an outlet for these photographers to sell their works.

The EOS Buddy Club also aims to leverage on the set up of the club to bring these photographers to share experience, techniques and create dynamic partnerships.

There are three types of membership available, Sapphire, Diamond & Gold. Every EOS Buddy Club member will receive a 5GB website hosting service for One year to showcase his/her professional profile and services.
